Lighting of the Village of Walloon
October 30th, 2017
Walloon Lake, MI – The Village of Walloon is excited to announce its 5th Annual Lighting of the Village taking place on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017. Visit the Village of Walloon on November 22nd for an evening of holiday cheer as the holiday lights are turned on for the first time this winter season. This year’s lighting ceremony includes a large Christmas tree, donated by The Wally & Margy Kidd Family, of Kidd & Leavy Real Estate, that will be in front of Hotel Walloon, welcoming all into the Village of Walloon.
The Lighting of the Village of Walloon is only one of the many things happening in the Village on November 22nd. Wednesday evening’s events include fun activities for the entire family! Activities for the evening include the decorating of sugar cookies and ornament, hot cider, hot chocolate, coffee and homemade cookies from the Walloon Lake Inn. Santa and Mrs. Claus also plan on making an appearance, for all the kids to share with Santa what they are hoping for this holiday season! Live Christmas music will also be featured on Wednesday night, courtesy of Walloon Lake Community Church. All activities will be happening on The Talcott’s patio area, next to the fire, weather permitting. If inclement weather, activities will be moved inside of The Talcott. Events and the lighting ceremony start Wednesday evening at 6 PM and will conclude at 8 PM.
During the winter, do not forget to come visit The Village of Walloon for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, snowmobiling and ice skating all winter long. The ice skating rink next to Barrel Back is open to the public and will be open as soon as the weather is cold enough to keep the ice frozen. Ice skates are available complimentary inside of the Tommy’s shop, below Barrel Back. Be sure to remember that Walloon’s snowmobile trails now connect to the extensive trail system throughout Northern Michigan. Stop into Barrel Back to take a break from the snowmobile trails and enjoy a hot meal before heading back outside. A little known fact is that you can also gas up your snowmobile in the Village of Walloon, which is good to keep in mind for when you are out on the trails.
