Nub’s Nob Ski Resort -Harbor Springs, MI
Nub’s Nub Ski Resort features over 50 different ski runs that accommodate skiers of all different expertise. Be sure to take a few warm up runs before trying one of their nine expert-only trails. Wondering what their current slope conditions are? Check it out here! Do you have a child who is too small to hit the slopes? Nub’s Nob offers daycare for parents who want to have their kids close by while they ski. Nub’s Nob is approximately 30 minutes north of Hotel Walloon in Harbor Springs.
Boyne Mountain -Boyne Falls, Michigan
Boyne Mountain offers 60 slopes and trails for snowboarding, skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating. The majority of their slopes are for intermediate or expert skiers / snowboarders. On average, Boyne Mountain sees over 11 feet of snow per year! Boyne Mountain, located only 10 minutes south of Hotel Walloon, is in Boyne Falls.
Boyne Highlands – Harbor Springs, Michigan
Boyne Highlands, located in Harbor Springs, offers guests various beginner, intermediate and expert trails for the entire family to enjoy. Boyne Highlands has recently added new snowmaking guns to their arsenal making it possible for snow to be made at temperatures above twenty-five degree Fahrenheit. With 55 trails to choose from, Boyne Highlands provides winter lovers endless fun for a day on the slopes!
Treetops Ski Resort – Gaylord, Michigan
Treetops Ski Resort offers over 20 trails that are high in elevation and perfect for the winter season. If you happen to have a newer skier in your group, Treetops does offer ski lessons for those who need a little extra guidance. If you want a break from the skis or snowboard, try a trip down the slope on one of their extreme tubing hills! Treetop is located 40 minutes southeast of Hotel Walloon in Gaylord.
Schuss Mountain and Shanty Creek – Bellaire, MI
Schuss Mountain and Summit Mountain offer excellent slopes for outdoor activity in Northern Michigan. Both mountains provide family friendly experiences with various types of difficulty levels. With various slopes for guests to enjoy, this ski resort will provide you with a day full of wonderful memories! Schuss Mountain is located approximately 40 minutes away from Hotel Walloon.
Crystal Mountain, Thompsonville, Michigan
Crystal Mountain is currently preparing to open for its 60th winter season! Offering over 50 trails for one to choose from, almost 30 of them are accessible for night skiing. Thirty percent of their trails fall in the Black Diamond category, so don’t forget to take a warm up run down an easier slope before hitting the serious trails. Crystal Mountain is located almost two hours away from Hotel Walloon in Thompsonville, so if you are planning to hit their slopes, plan to make an entire day out of the trip!
